A gift is as much about the person who gives it as the one who receives it. With each gift, we give a piece of ourselves. When looking for that special Valentine's Day gift, what better place to go than Pieces of Me?
The store is co-owned by Julia Brown of Kennesaw and Jill Alford of Marietta who met when their children were in preschool together.
Their inspiring story began when one had an idea and the other believed in it. Julia saw a need for teen bedding at an affordable price and solicited Jill, who believed in what Julia wanted to do. But the original idea evolved since May to a much bigger concept when the ladies happened to offer original design graphic T-shirts for sale.
"They're so popular we can't keep them," Julia said. Not only have the T-shirts taken off, but their belt buckles are also widely popular along with jewelry, accessories, blankets and other lifestyle items.
"I think it appeals to a broad group of women," said Jill.
With Jill's artistic talents and ability to create their designs and Julia's fashion merchandising background, the two moms are selling their distinctive gifts in stores, at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and online.
"We feel in our heart that Pieces of Me more or less found us," said Julia.
Their philosophy is to surround yourself with the things you love. "Our vision is to let the customer say something about their personality with the pieces," said Julia.
Both women agree whether you're classic, vintage, retro or have not defined a specific style, choose something that reflects who you are.
"Don't be like everyone else," Julia sai d. "What are the things that say something about your personality. What are the pieces of you?"
